STEM Qwest was founded in 2016. At the time, my wife and I were homeschooling our son. At the same time, I was also a public-school teacher, having taught science and technology courses in both traditional and online schools since 2010. When looking for STEM-themed homeschool courses for my son I found that many of the online options were geared towards older learners. That’s when it hit me…I can help fix this! I also knew other parents and learners would benefit from these courses.

As the parent of a video-game loving student that also loved learning about science and technology, I used my background as a STEM professional (before becoming a teacher I was as an architectural site planner) and educator to develop courses that blended the educational content parents expect with a fun learning experience that keeps students engaged. Because any educator will tell you that kids hate learning when they are bored and love learning when they are having fun!

With the support of my family (my wife also being a career educator with multiple degrees in education) and the expertise of other STEM professionals, STEM Qwest has continued to add courses to meet the needs of learners that school from home and also to provide extracurricular and supplemental courses for students that may not have access to these types of classes in their schools. I look forward to having your learners in a STEM Qwest course!

Sincerely,
